On Friday 25th April, Year 5 enjoyed a school trip to the Science Museum. Their first activity was the IMAX theatre where they put on some snazzy glasses and enjoyed the International Space Station Experience – A Beautiful Planet.
It was an amazing, 3D film that included some stunning views of Earth from the ISS. They also learnt lots about the experiences of the astronauts who stay on the station for months and how the observations that they are making are informing us all about the changing state of our planet.
After a quick lunch, the children headed into a lecture theatre for an interactive presentation all about space exploration. They witnessed a star being born, ions being collected, rockets being launched and the sad fate of Mr Potato head in a vacuum chamber. A great day was had by all and the children represented the school beautifully.
