Assembly – Reading is a Superpower!

On Wednesday this week one of our parent governors, Ms Elliot – Wilson, led a truly inspirational assembly where reading was at the forefront!

This was a celebration of reading but equally Ms Elliot – Wilson (who is the Head of English at Buller’s Wood Boys School) explained why reading is so important for everyone to learn life-long skills. Ms Elliot –Wilson discussed with the children how reading is a superpower, as well as shared her favourite book: The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. The other staff (one an ex-pupil) from Bullers Wood also shared their love of reading, their favourite book and also spoke about the wonders of libraries.

The pupils from Bullers Wood also shared their passion for reading and explained why the book they brought in was their favourite. Ms Elliot – Wilson, her colleagues and the pupils led a workshop for Reading and Writing in Year 6 during the morning. This was a tremendous experience for everyone. A massive thank you to our friends at Bullers Wood Boys School. We look forward to seeing them back next year!
